So, go on then, another few words... I want to change the world and promote world peace. Another few...
The thing is, me and mine trawled through loads of mega stress over a period of four years with a truly disastrous overhead, attic building project of doom, conducted by sorts who were interested in money and not people. We were flushed out of our dwelling, no, much more than a living space, our home - twice! We survived and fought our way back home, poorer but ultimately dry (indoors)!
This Ways Of Word free-will, creative writing project is an off-shoot development of this 4 year endurance saga - a building project for different dimensions which offered diversion and relief to the mind.
What is it, exactly?
A map. You w'ot? A 3D legacy MineTest 5.4.1 blocky-game adventure realm, where players / gamers are tasked with:-
walking, swimming, climbing, jumping and teleporting [flight with helicopters is permitted] across this super-large build with one purpose in mind - to write creatively and screenshoot one's poems, prose and short stories unto Ways Of Word social media hubs, or alternatively email these micro-prose written works to Ways Of Word via the website. [ https://www.waysofword.org ].
Why the .org?
Organisation? Well, independent, grass-roots and not-for-profit with education within its mandate. Also, the project wants to standby the originator creation MineTest's principles of openness and freedom-to-use gaming. WOW also wishes to be accessible by persons of less privilege and developing nations' authors / gamers. With this in mind, from the start of the idea, the game / map was consciously built using 12+ year old computer systems x3. Ways Of Word can, most definitely, be played on the most ancient 4 GB of RAM, 64 bit systems. Admittedly, some will still therefore be excluded. Apologies to their good selves! The reason why I could not take it down to 2 GB of RAM and 32 bit systems was that I did try and it failed. My creation became too big (ultimately at a .zip download of 1.6 GB - unzipping into approximately 2.5 GB) but the game did remain stable on the 64 bit systems. Actually, this Ways Of Word Version 1.0 Riverbank Edition is not the first iteration of the concept. The first was a completed adventure map on Minecraft Nintendo Edition on console 2DS XL. Alas, that version was un-shareable due to system's designed security locks. The joy of this MineTest version is that MineTest is an Opensource, volunteer gift to society and does not operate punitively towards persons of lesser means. MineTest is free and so is this large map.
You have a real passion for this avant-garde concept...
I do! The reason why I am so interested is that I robustly take the view that writing is human and an inner journey that people who learn written language can embark upon and achieve and benefit from and not using AI - something about the thinking and feeling part of writing is somehow cleansing. But, in an age of racing T_K-T_K & Re_l videos and social media in general, writing, and moreover, thinking before writing is much less experienced. This is a key reason why I have created this unique blocky-game realm / map which has the sole aim at its core of encouraging actual reflection and writing directly within a 3D fantasy world, and I believe a 1st for online e-publishing.
And you, yourself, what do you think?
